Resources: Shelters/Advocates/Legal Aid Organizations

Shelters, advocates, and legal aid organizations are all available to help victims of abusive and violent relationships.

Shelters: Shelters can provide you a safe place to stay, counseling, child care, referrals to community agencies and transportation. Even if you don't leave your partner, you may still attend support groups and talk with victim advocates about your legal rights.

Advocates: Advocates from victim witness programs can help you file criminal charges or work through the criminal justice system if charges have already been filed.

Legal Aid: If you can not afford to hire an attorney, legal aid organizations may be able to help you obtain a civil protection order and other legal assistance you may need.

Search by County or City to find the shelter, advocate, or legal organization that is located nearest to you.
